Baptisms at Edgewood

WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism is an outward sign of an internal spiritual grace instituted by Jesus, by which we receive his empowering grace and proclaim our commitment to live for him.

The use of water symbolizes cleansing from sin and embarking on new life in Christ.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Believer baptism at Edgewood Church is for youth and adults 12+ who have become followers of Christ.
We believe baptism to be an important step in the life of a Christian, part of one’s journey with Jesus.

*Ages 8+ may choose baptism for themselves in consultation with their parents and a pastor.

Why should we
be baptized?

Let’s look at the Biblical significance of Baptism.

  • Jesus set the example for us by being baptized himself.

  • Baptism is a public declaration of an internal reality.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

— Matthew 28:9-20 NIV

Child Dedication

At Edgewood we offer either infant/child baptism or dedication. Both infant baptism and dedication are a significant step when parents dedicate their children to the lord. By doing so, parents are saying both to the Lord and to the church, “As far as we are able, we affirm that this child belongs to the lord.”

If you have more questions or would like to process which might be best for your child, you may get in touch with the office or sign up below.
