We Know Jesus in the Breaking of Bread

Dear Glenn,

Let’s look at this picture together.  Jesus is at a table with two of his friends.  Jesus is our tablemate, He is also our bread.

Here is Jesus talking to two depressed and bewildered friends, (Luke 24). Jesus uses the word of God to help them sort out their fear of the failure of Jesus’ coming Kingdom.  Then He shows himself to them in the breaking of the bread.

Satan’s first conversation with Jesus in the wilderness is about bread.  Jesus tells Satan a wilderness story about bread.  It is a God created teachable moment for Jesus’ branch of the family of man.  He says, “Remember the words of God are better sustainers then a piece of bread.”

Jesus shows us a different thought about bread when his disciples show up with food for him at a well in Samaria. (John 4)  Jesus tells them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” vs.32 “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish His work.” vs.34

I am praying for you today that Jesus will sustain us both just like his friends in the picture.  Jesus gives his people a warning in John 6, “Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” vs.27

Help us all to be happy together in this truth today.

Much love, — Nana
